Located at the confluence of the Ariege and Arget rivers in the so called Pays de Foix, region that roughly corresponds to the core of the old county of Foix. Its most important monuments are the castle of the counts (XI century) with three towers of the XII, XIV and XV, and the Gothic church of the abbey dedicated to St. Volusian, Archbishop of Tours in the fifth century.
