Comments: The Valley of the Batuecas is located between the provinces of Salamanca and Caceres. Most of the territory belongs to the municipality of La Alberca, while the lower part to the municipality of Ladrillar. The farmhouse of Las Mestas is located at the confluence of the river Ladrillar and the river Batuecas. The absence of written documents until the late eighteenth century on Las Batuecas and its assignment to one of the most isolated regions of Spain, helped to forge a legendary and mythical view, widespread in literature and popular tradition.
