I should get the SV9/HB9CRQ QSL cards in about 2 weeks. In early June I will send out the QSLs to all I received QSL from.

QSL policy: to receive QSL please send your QSL with SAE to HB9Q, P.O.Box 133, CH-5737 Menziken

We are looking forward to work many of you in October from A21EME!

Vy 73, Dan HB9Q

Update May,18: Yesterday, 17. May we have worked on 23cm 10 QSOs, added 7 initials, 3 CW. We were hoping for some more activity, but over all we are very happy with the result on 23cm: 104 QSOs, 85 initials, 7 CW, 24 DXCC, WAC 6. SV9/HB9CRQ is now QRT.
Today, 18. May we dismantle and pack our station and on Sunday 04.00z we drive to the airport to fly back to HB9.

We had a great time and enjoyed very much working a lot of friends on 6 bands! Many thanks for being there and many thanks to those supporting us! A quick summery of the DXpedition results will follow later today.

Update May,17: Yesterday, 16. May we have worked on 70cm 8 QSOs, 8 initials, all JT65B. And we have decoded and called JA6AHB (-22), DL5FN (-25) and DF3RU (-22)
but unfortunately not completed. We are happy with the result of our 1st activity with the 432 QRP set-up:1x11y 50W at dipole. Sorry we could not bring bigger antenna and PA, we had to fit everything in our microwave transport-boxes with a total weight of 218 kg.

Today, 17. May we will be QRV the very last time from SV9! We will be on 1296.100 1st JT65C RX on our echo. Expected MR is 17.00z, we plan to be QRV until 22z, if there is enough activity. CW on request. Look for us on the 1296 logger.

Update May,16: Yesterday, 15. May we have worked on 3cm 28 QSOs, 22 initials, 9 CW QSOs. Unfortunately there was not more activity.
Today, 16. May we will be QRV 432.085 1st JT64B RX on our echo, look for us on the 432 logger. If you need to work us after 21z let us know on the logger or by e-mail. If there is no activity around 21z and there are no requests to stay QRV after 21z, we will close down the station. We only plan to be QRV one moon-path (16. May) on 432.
Tomorrow, 17. May we have not yet decided if we will be QRV at all nor, if we are QRV, on which band. More information later today.

Update May,15: Yesterday, 14. May we have worked on 9cm 20 QSOs, 15 initials, 7 CW QSOs. Unfortunately there was not more activity.
Today, 15. May we will be QRV 10xxx.100 1st QRA64D CFOM.10450 and CW on request, look for us on the 10xxx logger. We have sked with VK7MO at MR which is expected to be at 15.25z. However we will have some obstruction due to 2 trees. If you need to work us after 21z let us know on the logger or by e-mail. If there is no activity around 21z and there are no requests to stay QRV after 21z, we will close down the station. We only plan to be QRV one moon-path (15. May) on 10xxx.
Tomorrow, 16. May we will be QRV 70cm as announced. If you like to work us after 21z let us know on the logger or by e-mail. If there is no activity around 21z and there are no requests to stay QRV after 21z, we will close down the station. We only plan to be QRV one moon-path (16. May) on 432.

Update May,14: Yesterday, 13. May we have worked on 9cm 15 QSOs, 10 initials, 5 CW QSOs. Unfortunately there was not more activity.
Today, 14. May we will be QRV 5760.100 1st QRA64D CFOM. CW on request, look for us on the 5760 logger. If you need to work us after 21z let us know on the logger or by e-mail. If there is no activity around 21z and there are no requests to stay QRV after 21z, we will close down the station. We only plan to be QRV one moon-path (14. May) on 5760.

Update May,11: Yesterday we had a good start on 23cm and worked 59 initials on 6 continents (WAC in 1 moon-path with a 1.5m mesh dish!), all on JT65c. We had 3 stations we decoded but did not QSO: RN6MA, LZ4OC and AA4MD. We hope to work them today! We CQed many times with no takers, so there was time for more initials.

Today, 11. May will be our last day on 23cm for this DXpedition. So please, if you like to work us look for us during this moon-path. We expect the MR at about 10z and MS at about 22.40z. We will be again TXing on 1296.100 1st and we RX on our Echo. Please make sure to put your echo within +-700Hz of our echo. We will do some CW when there are no JT65c takers. Ask us to QSY to CW on the 1296 logger.
Tomorrow 12. May we will be QRV on 13cm as announced. VK and JA stations please ask for QSY on the 23xx logger during your window. For the W stations we will QSY on request as well. We hope to work all of you looking for us!
Good luck and happy Saturday!
Vy 73, Dan for the SV9/HB9CRQ Q-Team

Update May,5: The Q-Team arrived on Crete Friday night. On Saturday the equipment was checked, all looks well. We then assembled the station and did a short test on 23cm, all OK.
Our QTH is KM25WA (we expected it to be XA), we have the Mediterranean Sea just 50m south and 15m below us. The MR and MS will be into distant mountains. Depending on declination we expect about 10°. We have internet access, not highspeed but good enough. We were told that there is some risk for power-outage with strong wind… so far we had none… we hope it stays that way. However there is of course gusty wind, as always on the cost.

We now enjoy a few days of sightseeing and will start our operation 10. May on 23cm as announced.

Vy 73, Dan and Sam Q-Team

Update Apr,27: Sorry for bandwidth, but there is a typo in my message from 25. April:

Correct time for 10 GHz is: 15./16. May 10xxx.100 1st from 14.00z to 01.15z

I was informed (thanks Jan, DL9KR), that SV1BTR was QRV as SV9/SV1BTR on Aug-09-1995 at 2317z. Jimmy was using 2x F9FT 19el and 180 w and worked DL9KR (don't know about others worked). Never the less we will be QRV as announced.

I forgot to mention, that we will be stand-by on HB9Q loggers during the activity.

Vy 73, Dan & Sam Q-Team SV9/HB9CRQ

Update Apr,25: We have tested and packed all equipment… we are ready to go!

Because SV9 was never activated on 432 EME we have built a QRP station which fits in the existing transport-boxes of our microwave DXpedition station. We will be using 1x11y by DG7YBN, preamp and 50W with our fully automated az/el control.

Our QTH locator is KM25XA, on the southeast cost of Crete. We should have a pretty good MR and MS, we expect to have no more than 5-10 degrees of elevation.

We will be using my call sign for this DXpedition: SV9/HB9CRQ

Equipment:
432: 50W at dipole, preamp, 1x11y by DG7YBN
1.5m dish 1x2mm mesh, homemade automatic az and el control
1296: 50W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
23xx: 50W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
3400: 50W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
5760: 50W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
10xxx: 50W at feed, v-pol, preamp at horn

We fly on 3. May to Heraklion in SV9. From there we drive to our QTH. The first week, before we start our EME activity, we’ll do some sightseeing.
On 19. May we’ll fly back home.

Our EME activity will be as follows:

10. May
QRV 1296.100 1st from 08.30z to 22.00z

11. May
QRV 1296.100 1st from 09.30z to 23.00z

12. May 23xx.100 1st from 10.30z to 23.30z
MR on 2301.990 (on request only), will QSY later to 2400.100 (on request only), later to 2320.100 and finally to 2304.100 (QSY will be announced on HB9Q 23xx logger)

13./14. May 3400.100 1st from 11.45z to 00.15z
MR on 3399.990 1st (on request only), QSY will be announced on HB9Q 10xxx logger

14./15. May 5760.100 1st from 13.00z to 00.45z

15./16. May 10xxx.100 1st from 14.00z to 01.15z
10450.100 1st (on request only), QSY will be announced on HB9Q 10xxx logger

16./17. May 432.085 1st from 15.00z to 02.00z

17./18. May frequency open from 16.15z to 02.30z

Now that WSJT-X 2.0.1 is available, we will use JT65b with Doppler Control (“Own Echo”, in other words we listen on our own echo) on 70cm. On 23, 13 and 9cm we will use JT65c with Doppler Control (“Own Echo”). On 6 and 3cm we will use QRA64D (if necessary JT4F) including Doppler Control (“Constant Frequency On Moon” and if necessary “Full Doppler to DX
Grid”).  Hopefully more people take advantage of automated Doppler control. Especially on 6 and 3cm it is a MUST for successful QRP operations. Although it is on the limit, we will work CW on all bands (but not on 432). However only with big-guns and after the pile-up on JT/QRA is worked.

How big needs your station to be to work us?
On 70cm at least 8 long yagis and very good power
On 23cm 2m dish and 150W at the feed
On 13cm 2m dish and 100W at the feed
On 9cm 2m dish and 50W at the feed
On 6cm 1.5m dish and 80W at the feed
On 3cm 1.2m solid dish with 40W at the feed

QSL policy: QSL only direct including SAE to: HB9Q, P.O.Box 133, CH-5737 Menziken
