Update February 25, 2025: DX-World reports that that he has now installed a 5 element 50Mhz beam from I0JXX. It’s rotatable on a waterpipe about 7m above ground, and has a clear view over the Pacific Ocean from west via north to east, so it covers EU, AF via AS to NA, SA over the open ocean. The antenna and shack are 15m away from ocean. Bernard can run about 600w with 1.3K Expert amplifier and says this is the first time as a radio ham since 1974 he’s running the Magic band. Will call CQ around 50.313 Mhz in normal FT8 from time to time.
Update December 10, 2024: Bernard, DL2GAC will be QRV again from Manakwai village, nearby Malu’u (northern Malaita island) as H44MS from February 9, 2025 until May 7th. He expects to be active daily on 80-6m (SSB and FT8).
