Information

Update March 26, 2023: Apart from operating in the CQWPX SSB contest as VJ9N, VK3HJ was QRV on 6m making over 400 QSO on the magic band.

Update March 22, 2023: They hook into the internet via mobile phone network. There has been a network outage for 24 hours and have intermittent access via local wifi, but its unreliable and they don’t know when it will be available. Logs not yet uploaded. Chris, VK3QB mentions they are on air now as much possible; through the middle of their day conditions are very depressed. Night time has been quite good on 40/20/17 so focusing there. Team aim to get on 15/12/10 more often. More news as it comes to hand and when the internet allows.

Update March 16, 2023: So far the FT8 station is up and running. Main dipole is still being erected. CW station up soon with a little SSB later. More stations and antennas tomorrow.

Update March 14, 2023: All systems are go. Inventories have been checked, equipment tested and operator briefings complete. Expect to hear VK9NT on the bands from 0800UTC on 17 March.

Update March 13, 2023: The team had our last Zoom planning meeting last week and everything is now in order and ready. Tom VK3FTOM arrives a couple of days before the core team who arrive on the 17th March, and Matt K0BBC arrives on the 19th. We have the official licence docs on hand for VJ9N for the contest. The main SSB and CW stations will be Elecraft K4D and K3, with a KX3 for six metres and portable, with the FT8 station an IC7000. The CW Ops are very keen to see how the K4D performs.

Update February 25, 2023: Tom, VK3FTOM  will be joining  the VK9NT team  that  will be active from Norfolk Island on  17-31 March [425DXN 1659].  He has also got his personal callsign,  VK9TOM,  which he will use starting on around 13 March for "some QRP operating" while on the island.

Update February 17, 2023: They will be active in the CQWW WPX Contest SSB on 25/26 March as VJ9N.

VK3QB, VK3HJ and VK6CQ will be QRV on 160-10m in CW, SSB and FT8 from Norfolk Island as VK9NT on March 15-28, 2023.

QSL via M0OXO OQRS.
