Information

Update September 23, 2022: "Last Saturday we returned from Switzerland.

We started on Tuesday Sept. 13 with building the 2 mtr. antenna on the roof of the 4U1  building during beautiful weather. Around 16 UTC all equipment was installed and worked fine.

Only problem was my new I7 laptop which would not start up properly…..    So I connected a spare and older (10 years) one and this was not capable of running in Q65 mode. Very sorry, because we had planned to use Q65 mode as a preferred mode. But all worked fine in JT65  also but there was, like expected, a lot of local noise.

This was about S 6 to 7  without elevation but became less with 25 to 30 degrees. During the night we were able to work 35 stations via EME (and 2 Tropo)

Next day, 2nd moonpass, we worked 13 more and were glad there was a couch in the shack to get some sleep in the quiet hours. On Thursday we changed the antenna to a 27el. X-pol. for 70cm. and were able to work 11 stations via EME that night. Also same QRM problem on 423Mhz.

We think the results are not bad keeping in mind the local situation and it was for sure the last possible (EME) activity before the complete renovation of the ITU building. A new building will be ready around 2029 with possible less space for antennas…….

We took down all equipment on Friday and drove to HB9Q station and had a very nice meeting and dinner with Dan, HB9CRQ, his YL Sue and Sam, HB9COG:  Many thanks friends!

Pictures and info will be on PA2CHR  QRZ page soon.

Thanks for the fun and the QSO’s.   We hope to CU soon from another DXCC.

 Best 73’s, Lins, PA3CMC & Chris, PA2CHR"

pdate September 15, 2022: We did setup the station on the 13th in very nice weather.

Everything worked without a problem, but when starting my main Dell i7 laptop it ran an update of Win 10. This made it was not correct working after the restart ....

So we connected our spare laptop which is only Win 7: means not fast enough to run Q65 mode.

But: We are very happy with the results of the first moonpass working 37 initials. QRM is heavy, but got less when more elevation.

So please if you like/need to work us call when our elevation is about 25 degrees.

Today 15th we will run 432 MHz with a 27el. X pol. antenna.

Attila, OM1AM, Chris, PA2CHR and Lins, PA3CMC will be QRV on 2m and 70cm EME from the Club station of ITU in Geneva.from September 13, 2022 moonrise at 20:00 UTC until September 16 moonset at 06:00 UTC.  Operating times are restricted to non office hours (18:00 – 06:00 UTC)

Equipment: 2 x FT857,  144 Mhz: 26el. X-pol. 14.5 dBd. and SSPA, Maybe also QRV on 432 MHz with 27 el. X-pol. 17.8 dBd. and SSPA

They will always TX in first period. Prefered mode 144: JT65B / 432: Q65-60B

Please realize the station is located in the centre of Geneva and QRM is very high on all bands. Because of a complete renovation of the ITU building this will be the last activity for at least 6 to 7 years.
