Information

Update August 9, 2022: "Braving the constant wind and rain in the Aleutians the K7K team landed on the Island and built a little Tent City adjacent to the old US Navy encampment in the harbor, erecting 5 antennas and operating positions on the beach as well as sleeping quarters and dining area.

We operated virtually around the clock to give as much opportunity for contacts as possible on CW, FT8 and SSB from 15 to 40 meters. Propagation conditions were often very favorable on those bands but would drop suddenly, only to come back up a few hours later.

The logs are being processed (despite the unkind words and rumors that proliferated on the clusters, no logs were lost!) and the IOTA contest log will be up soon while the POTA  logs are in as of August 4th 2022.

The entire log set will soon be on ClubLog with OQRS available to request cards and LoTW confirmations.

Please DO NOT send Your card – use OQRS Only to request the commemoratve card for your contacts. "

Update July 26, 2022: They have started the activity just after 2100z on 20m FT8 (F/H).

Update July 22, 2022: According to recent news they left for Adak island yesterday.

Update July 18, 2022: Everything looks good so far. The members of the team will meet in Adak island possibily on thursday and then they will still have a one-day voyage to Kiska  Island.

Update July 5, 2022: The K7K team is offering an opportunity to our loyal DX, IOTA and POTA friends who donate above-and-beyond to this expedition. You won’t want to miss your chance to own a one-of-a-kind QSL card, specially designed so you can own a “piece” of rare Kiska Island (NA-070) and the first-ever POTA activation of K-0143 from this expedition!

This Commemorative QSL card will be available to anyone who contributes $100 or more to the K7K expedition and features a unique transparent window containing an actual stone from Kiska Island. Update June 18, 2022 from KB2FMH: Six operators from both coasts have joined together to journey to one the furthest specs of land in the United States, almost 1,500 miles West of Anchorage, Alaska, in the Aleutian Island chain. This Volcanic rock is called Kiska Island in the Bering Sea just a few miles from the Eastern coast of Siberia.
It is also a registered IOTA and POTA entity as well as a National Historic site where 80 years ago the US battled with the Japanese over the Aleutian Islands for close to two years to prevent them from making headway towards the US Mainland during WW2.

The Island is not only beautiful, but dangerous. It is rife with downed planes, half sunken ships, abandoned tunnels and weaponry and, un-exploded ordinance and pieces of remains from the thousands who fought and died in fierce battles. It is also home to many unique species of wildlife found nowhere else on the planet, classifying it as a National Wildlife Reserve restricted to extremely limited access usually given only to scientific studies.

Please join us in commemorating this anniversary while getting what will likely be a One Time Only ATNO for POTA (K-0143) , IOTA (NA-070 - AK197S) and Grid Chasers (RO81sw)
The intrepid group of Hams will be there July 23rd through August 1 this summer operating from July 25 to 31..

For more info about the event and how You can help support this monumental expedition please see our QRZ page.
