Information

Update February 27: Here are the updated plans for my trip this weekend:

From Feb 26 - March 1 UTC I am planning to activate these grids in Florida,
Alabama and Georgia:

EL79 - QRV on February 26 from 2310UTC - 0500UTC Feb 27
EL79TX93CP 29.9736N -84.3409W

EM61 - QRV on February 28 from 0030UTC - 0600UTC Feb 27
EM61RC42 31.0928 -86.5457

EM71 - QRV on March 1 from 0130UTC - 0700UTC
EM71BA75 31.0245 -85.8576

All locations are boat launching locations with clear views in the direction of moonrise.

Total distance traveled on this trip will be about 1600km. That works out to about 1 hour of driving for each hour of operating. That seems to be the typical ratio.

I may also do MS on 2M near sunrises depending on my energy level.

Weather conditions are are good. Probably no rain, little wind temperatures day and night in the 20C's.

Update February 23: I am changing the order of activations for my trip next weekend.

From Feb 26 - March 1 UTC I am planning to activate these grids in Florida, Alabama and Georgia:

EL79 - QRV on February 26 from 2310UTC - 0500UTC Feb 27
EM61 - QRV on February 28 from 000UTC - 0600UTC Feb 27
EM71 - QRV on March 1 from 0100UTC - 0700UTC

The activation from EL79 is planned from "Seafood Landing Park": EL79LR71 at 29.7131N -85.0203W. This is west of Apalachicola, Florida. The EL79 location will have Internet access. Because of the MR Azimuth there is some risk of noise in which case I will move Southwest to the Gulf of Mexico coast.

The activation locations for EM61 and EM71 will be selected when I am on site. I plan to operate from national forests if possible. Start times for EM61 and EM71 are approximate until final locations are picked. EM61 and EM71 may not have Internet access.

I plan to call on 144.122 2nd but may have to adjust if local noise conditions require.

If possible I will remain QRV until there are no more callers. At this time the weather looks favorable with no thunderstorms forecast for nighttime operating hours.

From Feb 27 - March 1 UTC I am planning to activate these grids in Florida:

EM61 - QRV on February 26 from 2310UTC - 0500UTC Feb 27
EM71 - QRV on February 28 from 0016UTC - 0600UTC
EL79 - QRV on March 1 from 0123UTC - 0800UTC

EM61 and EM71 will be activated from National Forests. Possible delay on start from trees. EL79 will be activated from the beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
