Information

Update October 26: Still here operating from St. Lucia at the Villa Grand Piton just north of Soufriere in Grid FK93lu. Contact me by e-mail for scheds providing specific common footprint passes.  AO-91, AO-92, AO-07b, CAS-4A, CAS-4B,  XW-2A, and XW-2F have yielded the best results. Note I do have some limitations due to topography. Low angle passes for Europe and South America are unlikely,

CQWW starts Saturday Oct. 26th at 0000 UTC (Friday local time) but I will try to catch some of the weekend passes during the 48 hour contest (on HF look for J68MD in the contest).

Evening passes on Monday Oct. 28th and morning passes on Tuesday Oct. 29th before I depart are possible.

For the most current information see my J6/AA4FL page.

73, Jay J6/AA4FL

Update October 22: I am headed to FK93lu today.  Once I am there I will scan the topography for elevations and refine the SAT passes I plan on being on.  The area does have some mountains in directions TBD that are slightly higher than the already high QTH.

I have updated my J6/AA4FL QRZ page and will try to do so regularly during the trip. There are some photos and a QRZ logbook widget (not be in real time). For more photos and views of wonderful St. Lucia feel free to "Facebook Friend" me.

Update October 20: Day 1 of SAT ops in St. Lucia was enjoyable but not as productive as I would have liked.  AO-7 was in mode A and FO-29 was not awake. Even SO-50 misbehaved, only hearing KC9ELU for a moment.  Frans J69DS joined me at Ft.

Rodney on Pigeon Island and made Q's on AO-91, along with Ian J66CD.

Check my qrz J6/AA4FL page after 0300 URC for changes to my schedule.

Going to team up with Frans and Ian tomorrow at his high elevation QTH.

Will be looking to focus more on AO-91 and AO-92 as the FM birds.  I will also post photos from today on my page.

73, Jay J6/AA4FL

Update October 13: J6/AA4FL outside of the contest: "I will be doing OSCAR satellite operation by schedule as we are visiting vacation style in varying locations. My schedule needs to take into account my shifts as a team member of the CQWW J68MD team. E-mail me to coordinate both FM simple SATs and SSB linear transponder bird QSO schedules. Radios will be a FT-817ND and FT-818ND for full duplex operation using an Arrow II antenna.

During Oct. 19-21st, my operations will be satellite only from the Gros Islet area (FK94mb) and Pigeon Island (FK94mc). Signal Peak at Pigeon Island is where in the 1700's the British signaled ships with fires and lanterns and spied on the French in Martinique. My QTH from 10/21 to 10/28 will be the Villa Grand Piton just north of Soufriere in Grid FK93lu. For J6/AA4FL contacts QSL to my home call. I will submit contacts by LoTW, the preferred mode of confirmation. Paper card submissions should be accompanied by - a SASE for USA stations - a SAE and 2 USDs for stations outside the USA."

Members of MARCO, The Medical Amateur Radio Council, Ltd. will be QRV from J6 St. Lucia, NA-108, from 18 October 2019 to 2 November 2019. Included in their plans are a MULTI-ONE operation using the call sign J68MD for CQWW SSB on 6 bands. Contest operators may include Jay, AA4FL, Bob K4RLC, Bruce KM2L, Diane N2HIW and Dave KN2M. Planned equipment includes K3 transceivers, one or more multiband yagis and various wire transmitting or receive antennas. Each individual operator may be signing J6/home call outside the contest and will have individual QSL information.

QSL information for J68MD is via N2HIW but LoTW and ClubLog may also be utilized depending on internet connectivity and availability.
