Status update on QRZ.com:
Status as of Aug.21st:
There is still very high uncertainty with the equipment importing/exporting. Thus, the DXpedition may end up not starting, with some nasty consequences for me right at the airport when I am already in PNG Yes, I do have the license issued back in March. No, I don't have separate import documents for my radios, SWR meters, and antennas, and NICTA (the local regulator) sends scary, confusing emails about the rules and penalties for violating them. Nobody knows anything for sure Emailing in general is extremely slow, and the answers are still inconclusive since different sources provide different information, even within NICTA. Phone calls are not answered at all
I had major issues/delays even with getting a basic e-visa and nearly gave up on the DXpedition entirely 2 days ago, despite having purchased a non-refundable ticket. I may still change my mind because the risks are higher than on my previous DXpeditions. Despite all this, I am still flying as of now. But every couple of hours, there is new input that may turn the decision 180 degrees
Thus, I hope for the best and will fly in with all the documents I have. But there is no guarantee that I will be allowed to operate
Solo DXpedition. Not a "holiday style" - a pure hardcore solo DXpedition. I will rest somewhere later :-)
I will update the frequency plan, etc., when and if I am allowed to operate. With so many obstacles, one becomes too superstitious :-)
