Update August 29, 2026: Unfortunately, I have to inform you that I have to postpone my planned DXpedition to Ogasawara due to a serious illness in my family.

This was not an easy decision, but under the present circumstances it is not possible for me to carry out the DXpedition as planned.

I hope to be able to reschedule the DXpedition at a later date. I will keep you informed as soon as a new date has been decided.

Rudi, DK7PE (JG1PFR), is planning a one-week CW operation from the Ogasawara Islands, Japan, on September 12-19, 2026.

Ogasawara has no airport, so getting there is already part of the adventure. The journey from Tokyo (once a week) is by ship and takes approximately 26 hours each way.

The amateur radio license application for operation from Ogasawara is currently being processed. The expected callsign is: JD1/JG1PFR

This will be another old-school One-Man DXpedition. Rudi will be on the HF bands on CW, using simple wire antennas and a compact portable station - no amplifier. Every QSO will be "handmade" using an ETM9c keyer. The goal is simply to put Ogasawara on the air and give as many CW operators as possible the opportunity to work this relatively rare location. QSLing: Paper QSLs will be printed like I do since over 50 years now

I will always use real QSL cards for the confirmation of a special contact. I like to take photos and design a "pretty" QSL after an operation. QSLs are personal reflections of the human being I have
made contact with, even if only briefly. Cards often include comments of interest and I know that a real human being has borne the expense, and taken the time to write a response. It's like receiving a letter, and it is always a pleasant surprise to receive one nowadays.

Please help keep the QSL culture alive!

QSL via Bureau will be OK, but please don't send me QSL requests via E-Mail or eQSLs, Digi-QSLs, QSLWolrld etc., as I don't use these services.
