Update June 2, 2026: I am pleased to announce that from June 20th to June 27th, 2026, I will be active from Rapa Nui (Easter Island) using the callsign 3G0YM.
During this expedition, I will primarily operate on the 6, 30, and 40-meter bands, which will be the main focus of the activity. Additionally, there is a possibility of operating on 10, 20, and 60 meters, depending on the propagation conditions experienced during my stay on the island.
The operating modes will be FT8 and SSB (voice).
Although this activation will take place during a family vacation, my goal is to maximize on-air activity and provide as many contacts as possible to the worldwide DX community.
It will be a great honor to have your participation in this second operation from this iconic, remote, and fascinating island in the Pacific Ocean.
See you on the bands from Rapa Nui!
73 and good DX. Manu – 3G0YM
Update May 22, 2026: I’m very happy to officially announce that we will be adding the 30-meter band (10 MHz) to our Rapa Nui expedition.
Many enthusiasts and lovers of this band have contacted me over the past few days, expressing their excitement and interest in working this frequency from Easter Island.
For this reason — and thanks to all your requests and support — the 30-meter band officially becomes part of this DX adventure in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Without a doubt, this will be a great opportunity to make many contacts around the world, especially on FT8, where this band has shown incredible results.
Thank you once again for all the support, interest, and constant motivation for this expedition
See you on the air from Rapa Nui!
Update May 9, 2026: Great news: the operations site for the expedition has now been officially reserved!
The location offers excellent facilities and a privileged environment for DX operations, providing ideal conditions both for operating and for deploying the different antennas that will be part of this activation.
In addition, the large physical space available will allow multiple antennas to be installed safely and efficiently, while also providing excellent comfort for the operator throughout the expedition. Its close proximity to the ocean will also help create very favorable propagation conditions, which will undoubtedly maximize performance and help achieve excellent results on the bands.
Update May 3, 2026: One of the most challenging bands in amateur radio is the 6-meter band, due to its unpredictable behavior and variable propagation conditions. For this reason, a 3-element Yagi antenna will be incorporated for the 6-meter band, which will allow us—if conditions permit— to activate this attractive band, highly sought after by radio amateurs.
Update April 25, 2026: The equipment to be used has been confirmed.
ICOM IC-7300 – 100 watts
Yaesu FT-891 – 100 watts
Both radios will be used in standard operating mode, allowing operation on different HF bands depending on propagation conditions.
