Update February 23, 2025: On Feb 26 the team will move on to Panama and will be QRV as 3F3RRC.
Update February 21, 2025: TI1RRC/p now QRV…. Another long day beginning at 5am in order to (once again) transport equipment and supplies down to Drake Bay and meet the charter boat taking me, Yuri N3QQ, Slava OK8AU, Alex RW3RN and Vlad R9LR on the 1-hour charter boat trip to the Island. Here we had to do another beach landing and offload everything in the surf.
We met the National Parque Rangers who showed where we could set up and not be in the “way” of the hundreds of tourists who visit this amazing eco-reserve on a daily basis.
We are on generator power supplying 220VAC to our 2 stations operating 12m and 15m using SVDAs. A 30m delta loop was hung just as the sun set and we will be operating 30m very soon. We want to thank everyone for the support and QSOs so far from this rare IOTA island and National Park.
Update February 20, 2025: They started the activity yesterday a about 23:30z as TI1RRC from POTA CR-0018
TI1RRC/P from IOTA NA-117 is scheduled for the local evening of Feb 20th.
Update February 18, 2025: After the disappointment of not being able to QRV from Nicaragua as YN6RRC & H7RRC (NA-212), a reminder that the TI1RRC DXpedition begins on February 19. Activity from both IOTA NA-117 and POTA CR-0018 is expected.
Members of the RRC will be QRV as TI1RRC from Isla del Cano (NA-117) on February 19-25, 2025.
Thanks to Jorge, TI2JV arrangements are made with Rangers to stay overnight, so we can take advantage of 30/40m.
The general public arrives AM and leaves in the afternoon. It is a few hours boat trip from the mainland.
Limitations: only 4 persons can stay overnight, no usable electricity. Food, fuel and water is on us.
As a prerequisite, Rangers need help with deep cycle batteries for their small solar system.
Our plan is 3 stations, 10-40m, CW, SSB and FT8, pair of 2kw generators. Fans and folding tables already purchased and stored with Jorge TI2JV.
Please support this effort!
73, Yuri N3QQ
