Information

Update September 7, 2024: On the air from Pitcairn (and current operating frequencies). I arrived yesterday (5th September) and have installed the DXCommander. The BTV is
waiting until we find a short mast, which I hope will happen during the day today. The picture shows my current setup......
We have internet via 'Starlink' which is useful but is quite slow and bumpy so I won't be able to update my web much.
So far I've been using the following frequencies; I'll try to keep them up-to-date.

(All are FT8 so far): 28.078, 24.908, 18.107 and 14.085 MHz

Update September 2, 2024: Bill, G0VDE says he arrived Papete at the uncivilised hour of 0510 local, after travelling from LHR to LAX for 11 hours, followed by a 3 hour ‘layover’ at LAX and then a 8 hour flight on to PPT. He had allowed himself two full days in case of luggage problems, but is glad to say all bags arrived (although unfortunately not in good condition). He’s got tomorrow to look around a bit and then has to go back to PPT airport at 0400 for the 0630 flight to Mangareva on Tuesday followed by a connection to the boat to Pitcairn, and planned arrival on Pitcairn early on Thursday morning.

Update June 22, 2024: QSL via M0URX

Modes: SSB, FT8 and maybe RTTY (depending on demand).
Bill is planning to use Multi-Stream MSHV - please use the 'Contact and Comments' page if you think WSJT - F/H would be better.
His aim is to decide on the frequencies nearer to the time of operation, and depending on which other DXpeditions are active.

Update March 22, 2024: I’m planning to travel to VP6, Pitcairn Island in the Pacific, and be active between approximately 5th to 15th September 2024. I will initially be travelling to Tahiti on the 31st August, stopping there for a couple of days and then travelling on Air Tahiti to Margareva Island (Gambier) on the 3rd September. I then take the Pitcairn Island’s boat – the ‘Silver Supporter’ – for the around 30 hour trip to Pitcairn. The return trip means I arrive back on Mangareva on 17th September but as the next flight back to Tahiti is on the following Saturday 21st, I’ll be staying there for four days and plan to activate Mangareva as FO/G0VDE. I should return to the UK on the 24th September.

Web site available

DX-World informs that Bill, G0VDE, will be QRV on 80-10m (SSB and FT8, maybe some CW) from Pitcairn Island as VP6WR on September 5-15, 2024. He will use vertical / wire antennas and PA.

QSL info not available yet.
