Update November 3, 2025: "We’re dismantling the stations — only two will remain active overnight on 80 and 40 m FT8. Right now, we’re also active on 15 m FT4. Tomorrow we’ll begin the long journey back to Italy 🇮🇹 after 15 intense days of DXpedition!"
Update October 31, 2025: "Hi guys, unfortunately that’s how things are going on 160m!! So far we’ve only few qso with Russian stations, and some EU very powerful.
We’ve tried RX with a loop, several different antennas, and even the 6m one, but no joy…
Tomorrow morning we’ll decide whether to give 160 another shot tomorrow night, or move to 80, maybe even 60m."
On November 3, 6O3T will start to dismantle antennas and stations. By November 4, only one station likely to be on air (morning local), then QRT.
Update October 30, 2025: 6O3T will be active today on 160m FT8 starting at ~14:00 UTC; their sunset. They ask you try to listen to their signal, and despite the loud background noise on their side they hope to make some QSOs.
Update October 26, 2025: We’d like to thank you all for the affection and patience you’ve shown towards our 6O operation.
Despite the high noise level, we’re moving forward with great personal satisfaction, sometimes at the expense of the usual CW/SSB modes, but often it’s a necessary choice.
We’re enjoying good openings on the 6 meters band toward Europe, around 11:00 GMT, with a few shorter ones toward Asia as well.
In the afternoon, around 15:00 GMT, the SIX band will open again.
We’ve been transmitting for the second night in a row on 80, and have logged several nice qso.
In the coming days, we’ll likely make some tests on 160m, though without too many expectations.
Finally, we’ve been receiving many emails about call corrections and typing errors, our apologies, but this is not the right time. All such requests will be handled once we’re back home.

Update October 23, 2025: Over the past few days, we have received several comments and messages, both through social media and via email, from operators who believe that our team is active almost exclusively in FT8.
We would like to make it clear that this is not the case.
We truly enjoy operating in CW and SSB as well, whenever propagation and local noise conditions allow it.
Our current absence from these modes is purely due to technical reasons.
We are facing a very high level of local QRM, with background noise consistently above S9, which makes it extremely difficult to properly copy signals and manage an effective pile-up.
We have been testing different mitigation solutions, including filtering systems, improved grounding, and antenna setup checks, but so far, none of them have produced significant improvements.
In the coming days, we will continue to test new configurations and operating strategies, with the goal of returning to CW and SSB as soon as conditions make it realistically possible.
We know that many operators prefer these classic modes — and we share that same passion and operating philosophy.
Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and continued support.
We hope to hear you soon on the air… hopefully in CW or SSB!

Update October 4, 2024: Our unforgettable Somaliland adventure
Our Story
Our recent 6O3T dxpedition to Somaliland was cancelled for reasons that we would like to explain to you and which I hope will give you an idea of what it is like to go on a dxpedition, to give the opportunity to work a semi-rare country to the entire ham radio community. It was an experience full of surprises, excitement and, of course, challenges.
When Plans Change
As many of you know, not all expeditions go as planned. Unfortunately, our activities as 6O3T encountered some obstacles that led to the cancellation of activities. Despite our best efforts, some problems have arisen that have caused us to adapt and rethink our strategy, trying to do as little damage as possible. This is also part of organizing a dxpedition !!!

We have put together an article where we tell what happened to us, and try to share what for us were 12 interminable days, marked by multiple different emotions and moods

Update September 22, 2024: We apologize for the silence in our communications.
Given the very dangerous circumstances, in which the entire team found itself, we decided to wait until we arrived in safe territory, to send the information that everyone was waiting for, and obviously to anticipate the return, in agreement also with the institutional contacts we had.
Obviously the operations were cancelled, the whole team is in good health, although mentally very stressed by the definitely traumatic experience that happened to us, although all precautions had been implemented. When you travel the world, the unexpected is just around the corner !!!
The team now, is on its way to Europe.
As soon as each operator has arrived home, it will be our pleasure/duty to share with the whole ham radio community, our terrible experience in a land where no one is in charge, but at the same time everyone has a say.
We thank everyone for your messages of support.
Update September 16, 2024: Good morning everyone, we had some delays due to Friday, which is a public holiday here, and Saturday, which was a religious holiday, so all public offices were closed. Yesterday and today we worked with the local authorities, and had a meeting with the Minister of Telecommunications, in order to speed up the release of the equipment, which has already been inspected.
Unfortunately, these are technical issues that have to be dealt with in local times and ways. However, we are confident that we will be able to resolve the various tasks by tomorrow.
Update September 13, 2024: Reassuring Our Supporters
We want to take a moment to reassure everyone who might be worried about our current situation. Despite any concerns about our well-being or the status of our operations, we are happy to report that our entire team is safe, well-fed, and in good health.
Current Status:
As is often the case when traveling with a lot of material, we have to wait for customs processes to be completed according to the rules of the country kindly hosting us. While this is not an ideal situation, but it is a normal part of the process and, as expected, it will take a few days before everything is completed.
Looking Ahead: On-Air Operations
Of course, our goal is to be back on the air as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience during this period, and although we cannot provide exact dates at this time, but we are optimistic that we will be on-air in the next few days.
We thank you for staying with us and CU on the bands.
Update August 29, 2024: All antennas are now packed, including a 7-element beam for 6m. They are finalising the last details, and the correct setup of the 5 stations that will be on air during the dxpedition, which includes SSB, CW and FT8. Meanwhile, regarding SuperFox mode they say: "Having carefully weighed up the pros and cons of using SuperFox mode, while recognising that if developed, it could become a high standard, at the moment we feel it is still too young. It is for this reason that we will use the MHSV software during DXpedition."
