Information |
Update May 9, 2025: They arrived on May 5th and planned stay for 3 weeks (May 26th). Special emphasis will be placed on the less commonly worked bands, according to ClubLog (160, 80, 60, 30, 17, 12 and 6m).
Harald will operate primarily CW and FT4, using a FT10dx for SSB and FT8, operating on all bands (160-6m) as well as QO-100 satellite. Warren will focus on SSB (contest-style). Both operators will operate on the Digital modes to ensure that as many operators as possible have a chance to make QSOs.
Both men will be working "Barefoot" as power is inadequate to support amplifiers. Antennas will be a vertical for 160–30m, a BuddiHex hex beam on 20–10m, and a four element beam on 6m.
Suggested frequencies are as follows:
CW - 1812, 3530, 5520, 7015, 10105, 14035, 18085, 21035, 24896 and 28035

Update April 26, 2025: Announced dates are May 4-26, 2025.
Update March 3, 2025: Warren (KN6ZZI) and Harald (DF2WO) will be operating "Holiday Style" from Ponta Achada, Paraia Baixo, Cape Verde, during the month of May, 2025.
After striking up a friendship based on a mutual interest in Africa, Harald (an Africa DX veteran), invited Warren (a newer, passionate DXer/Contester), to join him in Cape Verde to "learn the ropes of working as an African DX station".
Harald will use his faithful FT-991A and Warren his FTdx10. Harald will focus on CW and FT4 while Warren will operate SSB and FT8. We will also work QO-100 satellite as opportunities present. Antennas will include a BuddiHex for 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10, verticals for 160, 80, 60, 40, 30, and a home-brew 4 element 6 meter yagi. Antennas will be mounted rooftop at ~10m, close to the Atlantic on the South East coast of Santiago Island.
QSL both callsigns via M0OXO's OQRS or direct mail.
Update February 17, 2025: Harald, DF2WO, will be QRV agaiin as D44TWO from Sao Tiago Island (AF-005), Cape Verde, sometime in May (dates to be confirmed). Activity is usually holiday style on 160-6m on CW, SSB and FT8. He uses a hexbeam and dipoles. Also, he plans to be on QO-100.
QSL via OQRS M0OXO.
Update June 1, 2024: Look for D44TWO to be QRV "all modes, all bands" (6 metres included) and via QO-100, while D44KAN will operate mainly SSB on 80-10 metres.
QSL D44TWO via M0OXO's OQRS
QSL D44KAN via eQSL, or direct to DG9KAN.
DF2WO and DG9KAN will be QRV as D44TWO and D44KAN from Praia, Santiago Island, Cape Verde, on June 8-20, 2024.
They will operate on HF Bands in CW, SSB and Digital modes, and also in the QO-100 satellite..
