Configuration of DX-Telnet 16 bit (Versions 4.8 to 5.2) to connect it with VQLog under Windows NT, 2000, ME & XP

If you are using version 5.4 or later of DXTelnet then click here.
If you are running Windows 95 or 98 then click here.

With VQLog you can receive DX-Spots from several sources.(WEB-Cluster, DX-Cluster, Packet cluster, etc) and additionally filter only those meaning a new (or not confirmed) DXCC or locator for you.

Reception of DX-Spots is made through the excellent program DXTelnet by Fabrizio Sartoni, that must be running simultaneusly in the PC. Spots received by DXTelnet (DX-Plorer) are sent to VQLog via DDE for their processing.

NOTICE: Version 3.1 build 203 of VQLog implements the direct connection to DX-Cluster, so the use of DX-Telnet or Livemuf is no longer required to get the spots.

IMPORTANT: The connection between VQLog and DXTelnet will only work with the registered version of DXTelnet 4.8 or later

DXTelnet can be found on Internet at:

Once the program is correctly configured an running in our PC, DX-Spots received are transfered to the corresponding window of VQLog, where they are filtered and processed. Communication between both programs is achieved via DDE using the DDEUPE program as a bridge.

DDEDUPE.EXE can be found in the C:\DXTELNET\DDEDUPE folder and it must be running at the same time than DXTelnet and VQLog, so that it acts like a bridge passing the spots received by DXTelnet to VQLog.

The first time you run DDEDUPE you will have to enter the configuration parameters for VQLog and click on the "Apply" button. The parameters will be saved for later runs.

These parameters are case-sensitive so make sure you write them exactly as shown !

Very special attention must be paid to the following configuration parameters of DX-Telnet:

(Function "Configuration - Links")

These parameters are case-sensitive so make sure you write them exactly as shown !

If you are using DXTelnet to connect to a DX-Cluster

(Function "Session - Site list", select your site and press button "Edit")

And these other parameters if you are using DX-Plorer (Web-Cluster connection)

(Function "Configuration - Web Cluster)

In order to avoid problems try starting the 3 programs in the following sequence: First VQLog, then DDEDUPE and finally DXTelnet.

Also remember not to close DDEDUPE program. It must be running (minimized if you wish) so that it passes the spots from DXTelnet to VQLog.
