This map of 11-July-2004 covers from 16:30z to 18:34z. What a complex opening, the most complex I have ever analyzed!  The fun began at 16:45 with a cloud over the Mediterranean, at the west of Corsica Isl. 15 minutes later another reflection point appears over the Atlantic, near the north-west coast of Spain. At 17:25 three new reflection points join the game: one over Balearic Isl., another over north-east Spain, and yet another over south-west Spain. During this opening several EA8 stations worked into F, I, HB9 and DL with distances up to 2800 Km. These QSO were made possibly because of the two clouds (NE and SW of Spain) present at the same time (see the situation at 17:26), but taking into account the distance between EA8 and SW Spain (about 1300 Km) and the distance between SW and NE spain (only 700 Km) I don't think that we should consider the double hop as a possibility. I know of at least one QSO between EA7 and EA8 via tropo that day, so a combination of tropo+sporadic could not be discarded, however the possibility of a chordal skip (EA8 <> SW EA <> NE EA <> DL/HB9...) specially attracts me.

This animation can take some time (minutes) to load because of its size. Be patient and wait !

This map shows the evolution, size and MUF of the sporadic-E cloud that caused the opening on 144 MHz. and it is an estimation based on the information I have picked up here and there of QSO and reports of European stations. I don't claim it to be accurate but just an estimation that could help understand what happened that day.

Also please notice that sometimes you will see MUF rise very quickly.  This is because of the almost complete lack of data for frequencies between 51 and 144 MHz. that leads to shown MUF rising almost 90 MHz in one minute.  You should understand that this is not the usual behaviour of MUF, but the result of that lack of data.

during whole afternnon was active only one Es cloud avoer in83-93, for our lucky it become dense hour by hour and it gave first scatter BC to EA-UK-EI..then after 30minuts start Es.

You can help develop these maps!. After the openings, please send me your logs of 50, 70 and 144 MHz QSO via sporadic-E (Much preferably in ADIF format)
