Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena

Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena
Picture of The Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena in La Laguna (Tenerife - Spain)
Date: Oct-2006
Camera: Sony DSC-H5
Comments: The dominican enclosed convent of Santa Catalina de Siena was open in 1611 above the house of Los Adelantados. It has interesting baroques altarpieces, one in the main chappel and another of the Virgen del Transito, and a silver showcase. The most outstanding of the convent is the sculpture representing Santa Rosa de Lima, by Rodriguez de la Oliva. Once a year, on February 15th, the convent opens its doors to show the incorrupt body of Sor Maria de Jesus de Leon Delgado (1643-1731).
